Dispatch tools: lock, compare and re-plan

Real days do not follow the plan. These tools keep what must stay, measure what a change costs, and rebuild the rest of the day in a minute.

Assigned vehicle

An Assigned vehicle column (the vehicle's name, any case) locks an order to that vehicle: a regular customer's usual driver, a key account, or goods already loaded. The engine still chooses the order of that vehicle's stops and plans everything else around it. An unknown vehicle name is refused when you launch, with the list of valid names.

Compare plans

Compare with baseline (on a completed plan) plans the same orders in your spreadsheet's order, vehicle by vehicle, and shows the difference in distance, time and vehicles: what the optimization saves compared with how you plan today. It is free once you have run an optimized plan. Any two plans can be compared: with and without time windows, balanced or not, with or without traffic.

Re-plan the rest of the day

On a completed plan, choose a time of day. Stops reached by then count as done; a stop the vehicle is at is finished first, and it leaves from there. Each vehicle starts from where it is. Correct the plan with order references: done (ahead of the plan) or not done yet (running late). What happens next depends on the work type chosen for the plan (What are the stops?).

Deliveries

  • What a vehicle already carries stays on board.
  • Take vehicles out (breakdown, driver sent home): what they carry becomes a pickup at their last position, so another vehicle takes it over.
  • Add a file of new orders: vehicles already on the road come back to the depot to load them.
  • Orders that were unassigned in the morning get another chance.

Service visits (maintenance, field service, sales)

  • Nothing is carried. The visits of someone taken out are spread over the people still working, with no detour to collect anything.
  • Urgent visits from a file go straight into the routes.
  • Keep each visit with its technician (on by default): only the visits that have to move are reassigned, so customers keep the technician they expect. Untick it to rebuild the day freely.
  • Visits that no longer fit today come back as carried over. Download them as a file and import it into the plan of another day.

Plans where each vehicle is a day

In a multi-day plan (each vehicle is a technician-day or a rep-day), tick only today's vehicles under Who is working: the other days are left out of the re-plan and do not change.

The result is a new plan, priced and compared like any other. It assumes vehicles kept to the plan except for the corrections you give; there is no GPS tracking. The same feature is available through POST /v1/optimizations/{id}/replan (work_type, working_vehicle_ids, pending_order_ids, keep_assignments) and the MCP tool replan_routes.
